The Arab Fund Fellowship Program has been launched in December, 1997, with the purpose of providing Arab Ph.D. holders in different fields of specialization, who have excellent academic track records, with opportunities to conduct advanced research and/or lecture in the best universities in the world. The Program is intended to build bridges and achieve mutual benefits between Arab and foreign universities, and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to the Arab countries. Fellowships are open to Arab nationals who are currently working at a university or research center in any of the member countries of the Arab League.

For selected candidates, the Arab Fund Fellowship Program provides:
  1. Fixed maintenance allowances (about US$ 50,000 over a period of 12 months)
  2. Round-trip tickets for the beneficiaries and eligible members of their families
  3. Limited accident and sickness insurance
The Grant is usually awarded over a period of twelve months. Different rules will apply for married couples that are both AFFP awardees/beneficiaries spending their grant period simultaneously at the same host country / institution. Although applications are received on a continuous basis, they must be submitted ample time before the expected starting date of the Fellowship, based on a formal invitation from an internationally reputable University or Host Institution.

The evaluation of candidates is performed by a team of internationally renowned scholars who apply objective criteria, such as the applicant's professional record, quality of references, ranking and opportunities offered by the host institution and the quality and relevance of the research proposal to the field and to the country of origin. The Arab Fund will not, however, provide any explanations or details about the refereeing outcomes.

Given the Large number of applicants, evaluation results for each cycle are expected to be communicated between April 1st and May 31st of each year. Candidates are expected to arrange for their sabbatical/grant period accordingly. All inquiries and requests must be addressed via E-MAIL ONLY ([email protected])
